Standards and transparency

Editorial policy

These standards apply to articles published on joshthompson.co.uk across investing, AI, automation and video coverage.

Purpose and editorial responsibility

The site publishes practical explanation, analysis and opinion intended to help readers understand public information and make their own decisions. Joshua Thompson controls the editorial direction and is responsible for the publication. The About page explains ownership, experience and funding.

Investing content is general information and opinion, not personalised advice or a recommendation to buy or sell a security. Readers should verify information and take professional advice when appropriate.

Selection, relevance and original value

Coverage is selected for its relevance to applied AI, business automation, UK investing or companies followed by the site. A source announcement alone is not treated as proof of importance. Articles should add useful context through explanation, comparison, calculation, practical experience or a clearly expressed point of view.

News, analysis and opinion are distinguished in the article's framing. Headlines should describe the substance of the page without exaggerating what a source proves.

Sources and verification

  • Primary sources such as company announcements, regulators, official statistics, government publications and product documentation are preferred.
  • Links must resolve to a real public page and should take the reader as close as possible to the evidence being discussed.
  • Dated, numerical or comparative claims should be supported by the cited evidence or by a calculation whose inputs can be checked.
  • Social posts and community discussions can identify a question or opinion, but they are not substituted for an available primary source.

Dates, bylines and images

The visible publication time records when an article was first made available on this website. The time of an underlying announcement or data release is identified separately when relevant. Material updates use a separate last-updated time.

Each article carries a byline linked to information about its author. Illustrative or generated title cards are presentation assets, not documentary evidence. Source charts and documentary images should be credited and described accurately.

AI and automated publishing

Software and AI may assist with source monitoring, research, drafting, link selection, updating, publication and technical checks. Models are not allowed to invent approved URLs, evidence or numerical inputs. Automated validation can block a publication when its sources, links, page state or required fields fail checks.

Some automated articles can publish without individual human approval before going live. Other articles, including personal opinion and commissioned guest work, may be edited directly. Automation is therefore not a claim that every article has received pre-publication human review. Joshua Thompson remains responsible for the output and for correcting it when necessary.

Independence and commercial disclosures

Coverage is not submitted to a company or source for approval before publication. A relevant sponsorship, affiliate relationship, gifted product or other material commercial interest should be disclosed on the affected page. A commercial relationship does not permit a source to dictate a conclusion.

Authors may discuss companies or products in which they have an interest. A material holding, employment connection or other conflict that could reasonably affect a reader's interpretation should be disclosed with the article.

Updates and corrections

Pages may be updated for accuracy, clarity, new evidence, working links or material changes in the subject. Substantive factual corrections are acknowledged on the affected article. The process and contact route are described in the corrections policy.
