What the Elementor widget does

The Elementor ChatGPT Assistant widget connects an OpenAI Assistant to an Elementor-built WordPress page. It provides a configurable chat interface that existing users can place with Elementor instead of building the front end from scratch.

The original plugin includes:

• an Elementor chat widget with editable opening text, input placeholder and assistant label;
• support for an OpenAI Assistant ID and the Assistant's uploaded reference files;
• a per-visitor message limit to help control API usage;
• connection testing from the WordPress settings screen; and
• aggregate analytics for chats and message counts without storing the message content.

Requirements for existing installations

To use an existing licensed copy, you need:

• a WordPress site with Elementor installed;
• an OpenAI account with API billing enabled;
• an API key and compatible Assistant ID; and
• the original plugin ZIP and licence key supplied with your purchase.

Because the plugin is discontinued and depends on a third-party API, confirm that your installed version remains compatible before using it on a production site. Keep WordPress, Elementor and all other plugins updated, and never place an API key in public page content or client-side code.

Existing-user setup

1. Install and activate

In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin, upload the original ZIP file and activate it. Open ChatGPT Elementor → Settings and enter the licence key supplied with the plugin.

2. Connect the assistant

Add the OpenAI API key and Assistant ID in the plugin settings, save the changes and use Test connection. A successful test returns the assistant name. If it fails, check that billing is active, the credentials are current and the selected assistant is accessible to the API project that owns the key.

3. Control usage

Set a message limit that suits the page and your API budget. Every assistant response can create a third-party API charge, so test the experience and monitor usage before opening the widget to a large audience.

4. Add the Elementor widget

Open the page in Elementor, search the elements panel for ChatGPT, then drag the widget into the page. Configure the initial assistant message, input placeholder and assistant label, and use Elementor's style controls to match the rest of the site.

Analytics and privacy

The built-in analytics screen reports totals such as chats, user messages, assistant messages and average messages per chat. The plugin was designed to collect aggregate usage rather than the content of conversations. Existing users remain responsible for their own privacy notice, consent configuration, data-processing assessment and the terms of any connected services.
